The Redesigning and Redefining Work Summit (RRW) is an INVITATION ONLY summit at Stanford University to present new and innovative research and generate dialog among diverse perspectives to create a new platform for the design and definition of work for the twenty-first century.  The RRW Summit will bring together one hundred and fifty top academic researchers, corporate leaders, policy makers, and media representatives to set a research-based agenda for redesigning work.

Christie Smith has a track record of breaking boundaries – including her past career as a professional golfer, her leadership in fostering growth of the Life Science sector, and her experience as one of Deloitte’s most senior diversity partners

Christie has spent the last 24 years consulting, focusing on aligning business strategy with the requirements of organizational structure, talent, leadership development and global workforce planning.  During her 12-year tenure as a principal at Deloitte, she has served a variety of clients including Johnson & Johnson, Roche/Genentech, Gilead, Bio-Rad, Pfizer, Univar, Nike, and T-Mobile.  Christie  recently drove the formation of Deloitte’s collaboration with the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) to spur bioscience innovation and convert that innovation into a catalyst for jobs, companies, and better health in California.

In addition to her client work, Christie has a passion for Deloitte’s people and has served as the West region Inclusion leader focusing on sponsorship, advancement, and community, and is now  the Managing Principal for the Deloitte University Leadership Center for Inclusion (DULCII).  The  DULCI  is where we will gather to engage with our people on issues of inclusion to foster a new understanding of what inclusion looks like in the 21st century workplace. Moreover, at the DULC4I, we recognize the promise of diversity: with clients, who are themselves increasingly more diverse, and in a marketplace where no single point of view or way of seeing the world prevai for helping to ensure Deloitte supports and advances its diverse talent and making Deloitte an employer of choice for the best and brightest talent.  

Because of Christie’s varied accomplishments and commitment to Inclusion she has been identified by Diversity Jounal as a 2013 “Woman to Watch”. In addition because of her work in the Life Sciences and Inclusion efforts she has been recognized in 2013 & 2014 as one of San Francisco’s Most Influential Women by the Business Times. 

Christie currently is our Lead Consulting Partner for Genentech and Gilead and the advisory partner for Amgen and Proteus.

Christie has a masters of clinical social work from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D. in industrial organizational psychology from New York University.  She currently serves on the  Foundation Board of Seattle Children’s Hospital
